This piece is the rough draft of a poem I have been working on.. So do not judge my grammar mistakes to severe. (smile) I have written a much longer piece now
I hope you enjoy…
“What do I have to do to make you see?”
Tell me, “Do we not live under the same grey skies?” Praying to god just before we close our eyes. Do we not all meet in passing lives? Through generations and generations of our blood ties. Do we not both see our shadows in the dark? Climbing many hills just to leave our mark. You dream And I dream In the twilight’s of this lifeUnderneath the same stars Underneath the same moonlight As the wind kisses our cheeks I knew you and I both had been meek. Do we not all have hopes and dreams? Families to feed Homeless that rests their head on our streets Children that need places to sleep People going days without meals to eat Yet, we still worry ourselves with these simple things When we are faced with much bigger issues than these We both have red blood that runs like a river When cut deep… Tell me, Tell me what do I have to do to make you see?” You and I are the same with differences, (we are both unique!) We both shed tears of our joys and sorrows We both hope to wake to a better tomorrow I know I can’t be you and you can’t be me And I don’t want to… I like being me. So tell me … Tell me… what do I have to do to make you see?

beautiful truth spoken in a fabulous, moving manner. we all want to be ourselves, so why hurt others by forcing them to be what we like them to be! beautiful and touching.

MEETING POINT
Mythmakers all we are
And so meeting
Compare our mythologies
(Like so many have before)
Inner fire and heirlooms
Bounced cheques and littered highways
Dream rivers that disappear into the sand
Heartflow that stops and starts
And the long work of reconstruction
Artists all we are
And so meeting
Compare our artistry
Plain talk with rich recesses
Nuances to old questions
The curl of the cry
At the wellsprings of voice
Hunter at bay
The poet crawls and capers
Across the carnival and charnel-house of life
Fractious fragment of the Creator
Who hath made all things well
Adolescent loneliness
Adult uncertainty
Menopausal anxiety
And senile decay
Actors all we are
Though no spectator views us
And so meeting
Compare our pasts and futures
As all our heres and nows come down to one
Thank you Ben for sharing this piece
BREATH
You breathe in, you breathe out
You stop a moment and remind yourself
That we are all creatures of habit
The habit of breathing, for one

Thanks Mira Jay for commenting. I appreciate it
This is awesome and I can’t believe it’s your “draft” version. I often feel as you described; it seems so hard to get through to people. So easy for them to keep negative images and thoughts and so hard for them to let go and make room for great things like love and peace. I can’t wait to read you final version
@SereneNSassy… I am so glad you read this and commented.

Celeste you are wonderful!
I am glad that you enjoyed enough to leave a comment and thank you for you kind words. Greatly appreciated!
The first two lines are perfect. The image of grey skies and closed eyes is razor sharp.
I love the message of the poem and the title too… wonderfully expressive.
You have inspired me to start writing my own poetry again. This is a beautiful piece of work, like one of the commentors said, the first line says it all. I’m going to dig up some of my own pieces. Beautiful blog.
Hi J,
What I love about this piece is that it is filled with emotions thus shedding light unto the daily struggles of us humans. Well written! I look forward to reading more of your work.
God bless xox

We’re from the same source and children all…and like siblings we love and quarrel…when we fight, we hurt our parents…and we hurt our brother and sister…we hurt ourselves…
You’re absolutely right Eric
